In short: Connecting Twilio to Voizee gives full control over your SMS, calling, and website widget — using your own Twilio account and phone numbers. Available on Voizee Scalable plans only. Follow the steps below to get connected.
Before you start
- A Twilio account — create one at twilio.com if you don’t have one yet.
- A Voizee Scalable account — see pricing at voizee.com/scalable-pricing
Step 1 — Generate a Twilio API Key
The API key allows Voizee to connect securely to your Twilio account.
If Twilio will be used only for Voizee: generate an API key under your main account and name it something like Voizee App.
If Twilio is also used for other purposes: create a sub-account in Twilio named Voizee, then generate the API key within that sub-account.
Learn how to create a Twilio API Key: Twilio API Key documentation.
Note: Select Region = US when generating API credentials.
Your Twilio Account SID should begin with AC.
Your API Key SID should begin with SK.
Step 2 — Connect Twilio to Voizee
- Go to Settings → Organization → Integrations → Twilio.
- Click Enable.
- Paste your own Twilio credentials in the fields listed below:
| Field | Example format |
|---|---|
| Account SID | Starts with AC |
| API Key SID | Starts with SK |
| API Key Secret | Generated when you create the API key in Twilio — copy it immediately as it won't be shown again |
- Click Save.
Note: Credentials are encrypted and can be removed at any time using the Remove Integration button.
Step 3 — Select or add a phone number
Choose an existing Twilio number or purchase a new one from Settings → Numbers in Voizee.
Step 4 — Prepare your website for A2P registration
Before registering your SMS campaign, your website must meet carrier compliance requirements — including a privacy policy, SMS opt-in language, and proper disclosures. Skipping this step is one of the most common reasons A2P registrations get rejected.
Follow the full checklist: Prepare Your Website for A2P Registration.
Step 5 — Complete A2P 10DLC registration in Twilio
Note: If you have already completed A2P 10DLC registration in Twilio for another platform, you do not need to register again. Skip to Step 6 and select your already-approved number in Voizee.
Once your website is ready, complete A2P 10DLC registration in the Twilio Console. The process has three phases:
Phase 1 — Create a Primary Customer Profile
- Navigate to Trust Hub → Onboarding to start your profile.
- Provide your Legal Business Name, Business Address, and EIN/Tax ID.
Note: If you are a hobbyist or freelancer without a tax ID, you can register as a Sole Proprietor using your personal details.
Phase 2 — Register an A2P Brand
- Go to Messaging → Regulatory Compliance → Brands and click Register a Brand.
- Select your Brand Type — choose Low-Volume Standard or Standard for a regular business, or Sole Proprietor if you don’t have an EIN.
- Pay the required one-time carrier brand registration fee.
Phase 3 — Register an A2P Campaign
- Navigate to Messaging → Regulatory Compliance → Campaigns and click Register New Campaign.
- Choose a Use Case — use Mixed for general business messaging.
- Attach the campaign to a Messaging Service.
- Provide sample messages and clearly explain how end-users opt in to receive your texts.
- Link the phone number(s) you plan to use for Voizee to the registered A2P campaign in Twilio. These are typically the phone number(s) you selected in Step 3 (above) under Settings → Numbers in Voizee.
Note: Generic or unclear opt-in descriptions are the most common cause of A2P rejection. Make sure your website opt-in language matches what you describe in the campaign. See Prepare Your Website for A2P Registration before submitting.
Step 6 — Enable SMS in Voizee
Once your A2P campaign is approved in Twilio:
- Go to Settings → 2-Way SMS → Enable SMS.
- Select the approved number and complete the configuration.
